: "What do you wish you had known before you started your retirement?"

Here in my 2CW. Do not get tied up in either front or rear loaded mutual funds. If you need to place your money some place put it into a no load index fund and take the time to learn the techniques to make informed decisions about which stocks or mutual funds fit your risk threshhold and fit the asset allocation you feel comfortable with. Do not get into annunities at your age as it will limit your capabilites.

You can either do this on your own, using fool school or through taking classes with NAIC. You can also find a Financial Planner that has no interest in selling you something.

The one thing to remember is you have time to do it right, don't rush into anything as there will always be stocks to buy.
