1. For every stupid CEO who might wreck the value of your dividend paying stock, there's a renter who might wreck your rental. Both are hard to get rid of, but the later will call you in the middle of the night.2. Both go up or down with the market. Real estate often has a mind of its own, which can be good.3. It's a LOT harder to get rid of or raise cash through a stock than a real estate investment. Are you prepared for the marriage, and the eventual breakup?4. I've had rentals. DW thinks we should buy a condo in Florida because we'll use it in 8-10 years when she retires. The concept is good but she won't be the one to go down there if there's a problem. I don't say "no" very often to her, but I do for this one. I also have a condo I use for work that I will sell or rent in 10 months when I retire. I'll sell it.Hockeypop
