2. Through DW's employment we can get it through CalPERS. I trust them somewhat more than I woud trust most companies. --OldOne

I have it through CalPERS also and have heard good reports about claims.

Both my mom and dad ended up living on for years after illness struck, my dad in a nursing home and my mom with at-home care. The nursing home care for my dad took all his savings and the last couple years he was on Medicaid. My mom did o.k. without it because she lived in a small town where home help was reasonable and she was a retired federal employee and had good Blue Cross health insurance to supplement Medicare and didn't mind being home in bed alone many hours of the day with her alarm alert at the ready in case something happened. I could probably manage something like my mom did and do all right without it unless I had to go to the nursing home. Plus I really would like to leave my son with a little nestegg, like my mom did for me, and her parents for her.
