2007 Update:
1. Net worth up 15% in 2007 to 5.9 NW/AI (net worth/annual income).
2. Annualized gain in picked stocks was -0.5% versus S&P at 3.3%.
3. Lifetime stock picking ROI (99-07) holds at 11.4% versus S&P500 at 4.0%.

Current Portfolio:
35% Picked Stocks (Top 4 holdings: BMY, NUAN, BWLD, SBUX)
8% Stock Options
17% 401k Mutual Funds (75% S&P500 index fund)
34% Real Estate (House Value*0.93-Mortgage)
6% Fixed Income (Savings, CA-exempt MM)

Graph of past few years of net worth progress.

2007 was a tough year in the stock market, but unexpected bonuses and a 50% increase in company stock value helped push our NW higher.

2008 will be a big challenge as we just had a 2nd child, and plan on taking serious time off work this year (12-16 weeks) to spend time as a family. Still plan to max out my 401k and both Roth accounts.

Still hoping to FIRE at age 40, 7 years from now. 2nd child will probably push that out a bit.

2006 Update: NW/AI=5.1

2005 Update: NW/AI=4.1

2004 Update: NW/AI=2.8

2003 Update: NW/AI=1.5
