On this episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago tests the most powerful production car made in America - the new 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. After running the GT500 through Motor Trend's instrumented testing gauntlet, including top speed pulls on the dyno, we head to Kingman, Arizona, where pro racer Randy Pobst gets behind the wheel to see if Ford's 662-HP beast can break the elusive 200 mph barrier.

Great, now I have drool on the keyboard!LWWwill stick with her little V6 for now
My DD's FIL, already has a 2008 or 2009 GT500 that he sent off to Vegas, Shelby bumped it to 650HP, what a ride... But he sent me these links, is liking the LC button.. Launch Control... Says it would help avoid getting sideways on launch! I wrote back told him it's taking all the skills out of the game! Anyway, I won't be surprised if he trades in/up, or builds a warehouse to keep the old, move on along.. More Toys for the Boyz!! As noted in the video, it is a very docile ride if you keep your foot out... Is that possible? Keeping the foot out?weco
Is that possible? Keeping the foot out?Yes, but an enormous waste of potential ;-)
Inlaw has offered to let me drive the beast he has, the Super Snake, only 650 Horsies.. I've declined, so far, way too tempting to run it up over and over! BUt have ridden with him at the wheel, pretty amazing how quick you can be up to 130+ on a little country road... Serious toys! When they did the upgrade it was new blower, new hood, wheels, solid alloy driveline, as well as other goodies... My guess is he has near $80k into it... Bought it cheap as a newer one came out, but added on a bit... Real serious owners have taken them up over 750 hp... but for a production car, with warranty to go out at his 650 and now the 660+ is interesting...
