The Pepsi Challenge
By Mathew Emmert (TMF Gambit)
April 17, 2006

Twitty, thanks for this, didn't see this article at first. I could'nt agree more with Matthew on this. I am a long time holder of BOTH companies and love such a win/win. Several years ago, just before the Quaker acquisition I really liked the value level of Pepsico and was just about to pull the trigger when I heard of the Quaker project. It was at that point that I backed the truck up after really digging in and looking at what I considered to be the likely synergies between the two companies. Pepsi has proven fairly adept at integrating companies and they are not usually the sort of folks that buy just to be buying.

I LOVE purchasing shares in a company that not only stays focused on what it is good at, but seem to be able to diversify in the face of their focus this successfully. Seriously considering more as soon as the dry powder becomes available.

regards,
bundori
