25% of the companies revenue, and almost 50% of the profit is from the jet engine business this is nice business with a very deep moat. I do not see big airlines buying Chinese engines. Are you going to ride on an airplane with Chinese engines? Maybe in twenty years, but not sooner for me.

Do Pratt and Whitney still make jet engines?
Do Rolls-Royce still make jet engines?

Is there not competition even now, even if Chinese competition is ignored?

People seem to have no trouble using Chinese cell phones, Chinese computers, Chinese digital cameras, ... (as well as South Korean ones). The Chinese also seem to have better high speed trains than those of the USA. Is it not possible that they make good jet engines as well?

When I used to take airplanes, did I ever check who made the engines? My travel agent would never know. Would the ticket seller at the airline ever know?
