3. Tell your wife Yes, you do want her to get raped and killed cleaning some psycho's house. Tell her it's either make more money, or remove herself from the expense category of your household. She can have her internet and phone back when she earns more.
No. This isn't harsh and controlling. It's insane. If someone told me this I would take the kids and leave permanently.

Sorry, I assumed it could be said sarcastically to make the point. I agree it would be insane if it were literally true. My wife occasionally reminds me that she should kill me for the life insurance. She is not insane.

Heck, it's practically insane (at least if you want to keep your wife around) to even say it sarcastically to make a point, but I figure that's probably the type conversation going on in their house anyway.

Personally I think it's insane to refuse to ever enter a stranger's house. Sure, sometimes combo rape and murder events happen. And I'm sure sometimes they even happen in the offenders own home. I'm pretty sure a logical, reasonable adult should understand that the risk is probably lower than that of dying in an accident while driving one's car over to a friend's house. And logical, reasonable people still drive over to their friends' houses.
