Like most kids exploring their parent closets, as an elementary school aged kid, I found my dad's army .45 after school when he was still at work. I'd carefully take it out of the holster and point it out the window toward the backyard, and carefully put it back. A burglar would have found it easily.

A law requiring safe locked storage would prevent many kids from accidentally killing their little friends after school, and would prevent many grab and run burglars from easy access, and yes, MAY have prevented Columbine and Sandy Hook.

Many many gang-bangers guns are acquired from burglars. I've been burgled. MY safe was unscathed.

Yesterday Obama mentioned safe and secure storage. This will prevent many tragedies. No question about it.
