At my co it takes 7 years to fully vest..

If I leave before I am fully vested, what happens to the returns on the unvested part?

In other words, if I leave when I am 50% vested out of say 10K of employer contributions, that is 5K.

But lets say that the ER contribution part was invested in funds which grew so that the 10K contributed is worth 18K... Do I still get 5K and they get the 8k of returns or do they get their initial 10K and I get the 8k?

Or lets say I made a really bad investment choice and the 10K is only worth 2K..Would I get 2K? Nothing?

Any thoughts?
