This is my first visit to this message board and I am looking for advise!
I happen to be in the position of having been put in charge of choosing a new 401K provider at the company that I work for. I want to find the best possible plan for our employees with the least cost! In an effort to come up to speed and speak somewhat intelligently I have just read Berstein's 'The Four Pillars of Investing', which I found very informative but I also realise how much I don't know!

I have a lot of providers chasing our account, currently valued at about ~ 800K. The reason that I am shopping is because we are currently with Transamerica and the fees are very much having a negative impact on return. The problem is that it seems that all the providers seem to charge such high fees!

We are a small company with about 40 participants.

Our record keeping costs run at about 4,000.00 per year and we pay an asset based fee of 1.25% then of course there are the fund expenses which run between .65 and 2.02% (even thier equity index fund is .90% and their cash management fund is .65%!!!!)

Does anyone know of a book on this topic? or have experience?
