A month back I had posted a query here as to whether I should start the 401K with my employer even though I know that it wont be long before I quit this employer, say 6 months or so.

Here are some of the great suggestions I got.

* Start right away.
* Make use of the free money.
* Put it in Money Market Fund

The enrollment papers are in. My choices are between a bunch of Merryl Lynch funds, 2 MFS research fund and company stock.I also intend to open ROTH's pretty soon.
I have some additional questions before I jump in.

* If I dont have a MMF choice, what is the next best thing?

* Should I max out or put just enough to max the employer contributions(4%)?

* Where can I find the ranking for a specific Mutual fund, kind of like a * rating. I know Morningstar gives the rating for a given type of fund?

* What should I look for while reading their prospectus?

Thanks in advance.
