Freedom to Work (aka Right to Work) has passed the Michigan House. Onto the Senate! And there is an appropriation in it to pay for implementation of the law so it can't be reversed via a ballot proposal. Police and Fire unions are exempt.

The Unionistas are hopping mad.

They picked the fight. They went for the kill shot to the state economy. Snyder was happy with peaceful co-existence. Now it is payback time. I want those b@stards to be extinct. No mercy.

IL reminds me of Horse Latitudes.

And the first animal is jettisoned
Legs furiously pumping
Their stiff green gallop
And heads bob up
Poise
Delicate
Pause
Consent
In mute nostril agony
Carefully refined
And sealed over

As pointed out by the 2012 county-by-county Presidential election map, IL is a red state, except for East St Louis and Cook County.

I am not opposed to the RTW laws, but I am hugely opposed to exempting the absolute worst unions in the business, Police and Fire unions are exempt because they support the guys that are crafting the legislation.
I despise all politicians.

As long as both sides are subject to binding arbitration, I'm fine with that.

Binding arbitration does not help; in fact it hurts in NJ. The police and the towns go to arbitration and the police pick 'similar' towns to base their wages on. (In NJ there are some towns that have literally 200 houses and two police officers, the unions go to these affluent towns and get them to overpay then use them to base the pay for the larger towns.) Prices spiral up and up. The average policeman in Bergen County now makes 120k. Before someone thinks of all of the risk of being a policeman, the only policeman to die in the line of duty in Hackensack (largest of the towns in the county) was in 1980 when an officer when his patrol car was struck by a train.

I think you're referring to the map I posted here a few weeks ago. That was a 2010 map. In 2012, a few more Illinois counties went blue:

Wow, so now I have less empathy for the denizens of IL.
