$72 is great for any hotel in Austin.

That said, in general I use marriottrewards.com first, since I get points toward future stays. But if the prices aren't good, my second step is travelocity.com.

Usually I book two rooms when I travel, hard to do that in one step on any web site. So I book the first room with a web site, then they give me the phone number and I call and book the second room directly. The rate for the second room is often a little bit better than for the first. So if you know the hotel, it's best to just call direct.

P.S. I don't try to cancel the first room in order to get both rooms at the lower rate, because, having benefitted from the web site, I don't object to paying for it. Which is just as well, because lately I've noticed that web sites charge a cancellation fee. Looks like a lot of people were using them for research and not for booking.
