84,000 electro-active lashes would cover the metal frame

What the heck is a "electro-active" lash?

Piezoelectric crystals have been around for ages. Remember the record players with the flip over needle? The needle transmitted the vibrations from the record groove to a piezo crystal, which generated an electrical signal at voltage 100x higher than a magnetic phono cartridge.

Piezoelectricity (pron.: /pi?e?zo??il?k'tr?s?ti/) is the electric charge that accumulates in certain solid materials (notably crystals, certain ceramics, and biological matter such as bone, DNA and various proteins)[1] in response to applied mechanical stress. The word piezoelectricity means electricity resulting from pressure. It is derived from the Greek piezo or piezein (p???e??), which means to squeeze or press, and electric or electron (??e?t???), which stands for amber, an ancient source of electric charge.[2] Piezoelectricity was discovered in 1880 by French physicists Jacques and Pierre Curie.
