The articles says:

The year is 1990. The Mac is the only computer on the planet that truly operates from a GUI [Editor's Note: We have been reminded since publishing this piece by a couple of Observers that neither Atari nor Amgia had yet managed to go out of business in 1990, and that both of them had a GUI at the time.]

What??? The Amiga had been around for years, and was more powerful than these moldels released in 1990. This is totally misleading - Amiga OS doesn't count just because Commodore had some financial instability? That's like saying the Mac doesn't exist today because of the recent share price downturn.

The Amigas, perhaps more than any other machine, kept being used, both for fun and professional video production, long after Commodore went bankrupt.

Note: I had a lot of fun the other day. FOr work, I went in to observe a digital media class at my local technical University, RMIT. There was a lecture on interactivity by Mr. Felix, AKA Mr. Pumpy:

The class room was a Mac and Amiga head's dream come true. Dozens of iMacs lined the desks, but the joke was that every one, had an old Amiga 2000 CPU to sit on as a monitor stand. There were even Amiga 3000s which were still in active use.

The place was a museum of multimedia computers, not a single PC in sight. In the corners, you would see old Mac IIsi and IIx CPUs stacked 15 high. There was practically every generation of Mac and Amiga represented here. From the Amiga 1000 to 3000. From Mac II's through to G4s.

I was in heaven. They seem to have never thrown anything out. When things become unusable, the old boxes are used for a sculpture or monitor stand. The server room had an Apple sticker placed in the middle of the door. I think being a MacHead is a pre-requisite for RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) courses.
