Rob Reynolds is the immediate past DAV National Commander, a disabled special forces vet, is riding his custom Harley across the country to Milwaukee for the 105th anniversary there in order to elicit support for "Harley's Heroes". The DAV received a $1-mln grant from Harley-Davidson Foundation which was used to support a fleet of mobile service offices that has helped in excess of 175,000 veterans learn about, and file for, well earned benefits.
His custom built and painted H-D FLHX Street Glide is a show stopper and has proven an emotional image to many soldiers and veterans who he meets.
You can see photos of the bike and read about his epic journey which includes visiting veterans in some five VA medical centers on his blog. In it you will also find one 24 hour period where he went from desert high temps of over 100 degrees to snow in Colorado attending the Veterans Rally in Winter Park in the Rockies. We hosted him at that event and brought him down to the VA and our dealership yesterday.
Our dealership has held the DAV Vets Ride dating back to 1989 and I have produced the last 8 of those events. Last year we were in the initial group of dealers to sign on and host a Harley's Heroes event. This year Harley sent executives to our event. And we were quote honored to be the first stop that Rob lined up for his journey from the DAV Convention to Milwaukee. I spent the better part of three days with Rob and it is obvious how he got his post, and an honor to have ridden along side him.
His blog is found by clicking "Robs Ride" on the www.HarleysHeroes.org site or https://www.dav.org/HarleysHeroes/Blog.aspx
