I just applied for a "World Perks" VISA, which gives me frequent flyer miles on Northwest. I'm living in Ann Arbor, MI, which is near the Detroit Airport (a Northwest hub) and I fly home to see my parents in Virginia at least twice a year. There's a $55 annual fee on this card, though, and I've always refused to pay such a fee on principle. I'm a student, and while I have no debt, I also don't have much of an income. I'm gonna try to run my rent each month through the card, in hopes that I can build up enough miles for a free trip home at least once every couple of years. Other than that, I won't be using the card much at all. The only thing that bothers me about the card is the fee. Does anyone else have experience with these cards? Are they worth the fee? The guy on the phone when I applied told me that they won't erase the fee no matter what. Any thoughts, advice?
