My father died 12/3/96. One stock in his estate stock is apparently rarely traded. The stock was not listed in the wall Steet Journal with a closing price for any date near 12/3/96. How can I establish the value, for tax purposes, for a future sale? The account executive at my full service broker was unable to help. The stock is a convertable preferred from a large NYSE Company. It is TRW 4.50 CV pref. (symbol: TRWPRD).
