It all depends on you. If they are providing you a service that you can use responsibly to rebuild or establish a credit history at a price you agree to pay - then fine.

Remember, though -- they do not have your best interests at heart (NO CREDIT CARD COMPANY DOES) and they are in business to make money.....FROM YOU.

The reason I have a problem with Providian is that they won't take "No" for an answer. They don't seem to understand I don't want to do business with them, and it gets very irritating to receive multiple calls and mail solicitations after I have expressly told them to stop and notified them in writing of my wishes.
