The main problem I have with annuities is that
they are built on term Life insurance. You give them your money. They invest it in something with better
return than they pay. Insurance companys then cover
the cost of the death benifit. I spent 2 days in the library after I retired and most articles I could
find did not reccomend them. It appears to me you
are better off placing Half of your assets in her name and half in yours. No federal tax problems with that. Most of the people my age are not that concerned about the wife and divorce. If you have had 30 or 40 years of married life If things blew up some how she would get most of it anyway. In most case she helped build your wealth in some way.
