Those enclosed checks are why I always rip up CC applications even though I never open the envelopes. The thought of something looking like a check with my name on it floating around in the garbage or recycling gives me the willies.
Yep. I shred every piece of paper that has anything on it that might do me harm. For example, other than credit card offers, I get a lot of mortgage refinance mail. They all have my name, address, and some kind of customer ID number on them. They all get shredded so nobody can pull them out of my recycling bin and send them in with my name and their address on the form.
I even shred stuff like credit card receipts, cancelled checks, and bank statements when I'm through with them.
