Greetings, Rpstuart, and welcome. You asked:

<<I have some IRA money sitting in an index fund and I want to move it into a RP4 portfolio at a discount broker. I'm stuck on the traditional versus Roth IRA decision. I think I can roll the funds into either type of IRA, but what do I actually gain from one over the other? Any help would be appreciated.>>

The conversion decision rests on a number of factors such as tax rates today versus those of tomorrow, how you would pay taxes due on the conversion, how long the money can stay in the converted account, and the size of your estate. It's a unique situation for everyone for which there is no "one size fits all" answer. See my analysis on this board at http://boards.fool.com/Registered/Message.asp?id=1040013000441002&sort=postdate to look at some factors that you need to consider. It will give you food for thought as you work through this decision.
