The following was found on the CLEC.COM news page: 11-Dec-98 01:15 PM FCC ruling could come soon Speculation within the C-LEC industry is that the FCC finally is nearing a decision on whether to allow local-service providers to continue to collect reciprocal compensation for terminating Internet traffic originating on another carrier's network. An announcement could come next week. C-LECs, many of which terminate thousands of calls to their ISP customers each month, have been expecting the decision since before Thanksgiving. At this point, it's widely held that the Commission will likely let C-LECs continue to charge recip-comp fees for completing calls to ISPs at least until their current interconnection agreement with incumbents expire. |
