I too agree with TMFPixy. I see no value in distributing securities in leiu of cash in that you assume the basis in the stock as of the date of distribution.

As to you second question above making a SEPP & educational withdrawal from the same IRA, I have two answers:

1. I think it is conceptually possible in that it does not directly (only indirectly) fly in the face of IRC ยง72(t).

2. If you where seeking my advice professionally, I would never let you do it. Why wave a red flag at a pack of bulls?
