A few questions:
1) How difficult is it to set up a SEP with a discount broker with your own parameters?
Simple, just contact yhr discount broker of your choice and ask for a SEP-IRA account kit; fill in the blanks, attach a check & you atre in business.
2) Are there any advantages of using a full service broker?
Sure, full service can offer access to products that discounters don't have & they provide advice. You get to pay for both.
3) Any recommendations for discount brokers?
See the discount broker board here at the Fool.
4) Any other suggestions?
Do it before 4/15/99 so you get the 1998 tax deduction.
