I recently fell into the trap of a First USA late payment and was charged $116 total in interest and fees. I there anything I can do. I am fairly certain the payments were made on time.

First you need to find out when your payment was actually made. Keep a record of when you mailed it (date, time, and pickup time showing on the mailbox). THat way you have some paper trail.

Secondly, call them, and also write them, say it was just a one time mistake and you'll be good, will you please take off the late fee & interest. If you're lucky you might hit a generous phone rep and will get it back.
