I am going to open a Roth for my wife. She is currently working, but we hope for her to be able to stop working in about five years. As I understand it, for us to continue to make contributions to a Roth in her name after she stops working, we will have to open a Spousal Roth, in which case she would then have two seperate Roths. To make things easier, can I just open her account now as a Spousal?
