I have been hearing how nice it is to have a Roth IRA and be able to control its performance in a stock or mutual funf account. Problem is, I cannot find one that does not require a large initial deposit ( $1,000 or $2,000) to start it. Does any fellow Fool know of a on-line broker or mutual fund company that do not require large initial deposits for Roth IRAs ?

I suggest with minimal funds to start an account that you consider some type of S&P index fund. Vanguard is the one that first comes to mind. Keep adding to it each year until you have enough to open an account with an OLB.
