We're just about to close on our first house (a little 1920s brick rowhouse w/slate roof--in great shape). During the whole process, I got lots of advice from all over the place--books, friends, online, etc.
Now, though, I'm wondering if any homeowners out there have any advice or special knowledge they'd be willing to share about post-closing issues. You know, the stuff that doesn't make it into books.
Is there anything you know now that you wish you had known then?
(For example, a friend who recently moved into a new place suggested that we have the wood floors done first, then wipe down (or have wiped down) the walls before the painters come in to do their work. The same friend also suggested that we buy a small amount of the colors we want to use to test them on the walls. -- I never would have thought of either of these things.)
Thanks in advance,
