In addition to the Vanguard 500 fund, you might be interested in the Vanguard Healthcare Fund. It is rated as one of the safest 15 mutual funds by Morningstar. Last year when many health care mutual funds had trouble (Fidelity's was down a bit, for example), Vanguard Healthcare was up about 7%. That's not as good as the S&P500 last year, but, over the last 10 years, the Healthcare fund has performed slightly better than the S&P500. And baby boomers aren't getting any younger. brucedoe |
