Again, Hocus, you are 100% right when you answered the totally happy employee. I worked in exactly the environment he described. I genuinely loved that company, it's employees and the work. It could not have been better. Then, we expanded. We hired some new people who had the right credentials. I thought. Then, the older guys whom I dearly loved and respected began to retire. We'll be fine, I thought. Wrong. The new people were control freaks and "managers". They divided the troops and conquered them and the company. It became a pain to go to work. The company I loved had changed. It was no longer a joy to work there. So, my advice to the happy guy, "Watch out for the new employees who are hired. They will change the company in ways you cannot foresee." |
