I cannot tell you how true this rings. My wife and I recently had twin boys. We have another on the way. I am 34 years old. I used to be married to my job. The day in and day out. I played the game well professionally and socially. How things changed when our boys were born. I can't stand the thought of leaving my family behind everyday for 10-11 hours at a time. I miss out on so much. Business trips, even to ultra-luxury locations, are sheer torture. Adding insult to injury, my boss busts my chops because I don't go to every stupid after work social function she deems important.
Before my kids were born, I lived for my job. Now I just live through it.
Thank god I learned about the power of compounding right out of college.
Here's to living below your means! With a little luck, the Foolish four and RS 13/26 Overlap will get me out in time to enjoy my wife and kids before the aches and pains of old age set in.
