See page 4 of the Arizona 140 booklet, Line 6 Box - Married Filing Separately and Arizona Department of Revenue Income Tax Ruling ITR 93-18, ITR 93-19 and ITR 93-22 for more information on the division of income. Generally speaking, you must claim 1/2 of the community income from all sources plus any separate income.

You should probably look at the web sites for both IRS and Arizona for more information on what constitutes community income. Splitting by SS# on community income is not correct.

You can file a worksheet showing how you arrived at your figures with your returns to prevent the computer from throwing it out. What they will be looking for is do the totals of both returns equal what their records show.
