The sort of mechanical investing that I do consists of construction a trading
system for a set of mutual funds. I devise a ranking methodology, determine the
number of funds to hold, backtest various options, and pick the best.

The point is that there are a lot of ways to do mechanical investing, and the stuff
on that board is only a subset of what is possible.

joelxwil,
You're right - and on the MI board, we'd be very interested to see and discuss your mechanical mutual fund approach or approaches! Current MI approaches have focused on stocks, and mostly ValueLine stocks, because of the need for backtesting and the availability of data. Anything you could add to that would be great!
