Quantum Snap Server Wins Network World Blue Ribbon Award For Network Attached Storage Appliances
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2000--
Snap Server Awarded Blue Ribbon for Superior Ease-of-Use,
Simple Configuration, and Best-in-Class Multi-client Support
Quantum Corporation's DLT and Storage Systems Group (NYSE:DSS) Snap Division outperformed six network attached storage (NAS) vendors to win the first Network World Blue Ribbon Award for NAS devices. During testing, the Snap Server distinguished itself from the competition with its simple configuration process and its unique ability to support all major networking platforms. In its first review of NAS devices, Network World showed NAS appliances as affordable and extremely easy-to-use alternatives to traditional file servers for adding storage space to a network.
"The Snap Division is extremely proud to have received the Network World Blue Ribbon Award," said Anders Axelsson, general manager of Quantum's Snap Division. "This award reinforces Quantum's leadership in the NAS market as the Snap Server continues to deliver the performance and client support customers have come to expect from a NAS device."
The Snap Server was praised by Network World for offering the best Web administration interface, easy navigation, and widest multi-client support which includes the ability to share files among Windows, NetWare, Macintosh, and Network File System (NFS) users. In addition, the Snap Server was noted for providing the most sophisticated utility for guiding users through the process of setting up network shared folders.
