Subject:  S&P or NASDAQ Index, that is the question Date:  5/20/2000  3:41 PM

Well here is a simple(?) dilema - I find myself as one of the fence riders. I tend to like the reliable companies of old, but there is no doubt some of you out there are whoopin the heck out of my returns in the tech sector. So, my employer offers a nice assortment suddenly of 401K investment options. I have always been in the S&P index option, and the gains were good for a while - I got in seven years ago as a college grad, having a long investment horizon - but of course they have now slipped, or been lambasted compared to the NASDAQ. So now I have the option of a NASDAQ tracking fund, am enticed by the returns, but have that ol time religion fear about changing since those returns are starting to pogo of late.

So, I was hoping to inspire some debate on the issue of where Fools would choose to invest considering the huge debate over the fate of the markets in general and the high tech sector in particular. Any takers out there on a discussion of the pros and cons of S&P vs NASDAQ index's?
