Subject: non spouse IRA beneficiary | Date: 7/1/2000 7:52 PM
Author: dingue | Number: 37087 of 127549
Can the beneficiary of an IRA be changed from a spouse to a daughter? The owner is already taking required minimum distributions from the IRA and wishes to change the beneficiary. The non-spousal beneficiary would then inherit the IRA? Upon the death of owner, what options will the daughter have? Continue receiving owner's same minimum distributions even thought she is below required age , or will distributions stop until she herself is at the required age? What will she have to do besides naming her own beneficiary? Does the IRA still stay in original owner's name? etc. |
