I DID NOT live with my wife during all of 1999 and we continue not living together to this day [sad but true].
I'm sorry to hear about the state of your marriage, but glad to hear that your deduction was, in fact, allowable. (Wish I'd mentioned that exception the first time around. When dealing with tax law, one gets so weary of saying "unless..." that one sometimes slips.)
You didn't ask, but that's never stopped me. If you and your wife have neither the desire nor hope of reconciliation, you'd be much better off from a tax perspective if you got a divorce.
