Subject:  how to invest my IRA? Date:  10/27/2000  5:24 PM

I am just recently married and my wife and I are both 22 years old and trying to get a jump on retirement saving. We also want to invest safely and worry-free so are planning on putting the majority (>80%) of our savings in to an index fund, probably the Vanguard 500.

Our question is for our Roth IRA's: is it better to put all $4000 in at the beginning of January into an index fund, or slowly fill the $4000 over a period of 12 months? Not sure what the historical record shows about this, so just wondering if anyone out there has looked into this.
