I've changed my tune with regards to the education IRA. Since the money is in your child's name, their ability to get financial aid is lessened. Also, you can't use the Hope scholarship (and one other I can't think of) in the same year you use the Educ IRA. And lastly, there's still a $500/year limit, which isn't going far. The route I've now decided on is to save the money in my name, and then give my children a "gift" each year (within the future IRS guidelines) to pay for their tuition when they go to school.
