If you could, please let me know a little bit more about your impression of the Cayman's. Ovbviously, the islands are supposed to be beautiful and the climate perfect, but the tax structure has me even more fascinated. The downside, from what I understand, is the exhobrbitant cost of living.

The Cayman Islands are beautiful, but the main island is nearly over developed. The beaches are very nice. The surrounding coral reefs are spectacular. I love to Scuba Dive and that influences my choice of vacation destinations. Hotels and resorts mostly dominate the bar and nightlife scene. Cruise ships are very common, but I am unsure how they affect the bars. Most of the working people in the bars and hotels in Cayman doing the manual labor are from places like Jamacia (i.e., poorer Caribean countries). Most of the dive masters and dive instructors are from the US or from Commonwealth countries. I think that foreigners might be restricted from owning property in Cayman, but I could be mistaken.

I did have a chance to get a glimpse into another side of Cayman while there. My girlfriend sprained her ankle seriously enough that we went to a local hospital for an x-ray. We paid cash for her outpatent treatment and it was not very expensive. The nurse and doctor were locals. They were British educated with appropriate accents. I also listened to some of the locals in the waiting room. It was entertaining. I found everyone friendly and polite. Cayman is not a Third World country.
