To all those wiser then I, this fellow can use some help. Just got divorced and will recieve a 60,000 payout from the ex-spouse from her buying me out of the house. What are the tax consequences of such an event? None. Property settlements incident to divorce carry no tax consequence. See Publication 525. Phil Marti VITA Volunteer |
