My wife and I are trying to figure out our Roth IRA options and are having a hard time finding information specific to our situation. She is a Canadian citizen who has recently received her U.S. residency. I am a U.S. citizen and have funded an individual IRA for a few years.

Our question is: can we fund an IRA in her name even though she is a resident only? I've tried to find this info on the IRS site, but have not been able to locate it. (Also, if anyone has a similar situation, I guess the Canadian tax ramifications [if any] would be helpful.)

Thanks to anyone who might be able to lend assistance.
