It is correct. Since you married in 2001, your taxes should be $600 lower due to the 5% tax rate reduction for the first $12000 of income for filing status MFJ. You
already received $300 of that with the "prebate" check. Now you get the benefit of the remaining $300. Enjoy.
That is interesting. I would have thought their Fed Tax Withheld would have been $300 higher and the extra refund would have been seen that way. What you are saying is that the rebates really had no relation to tax withholding then? That must be the case if the extra $300 can be claimed as a credit.
