As of yesterday my 10yr bond is at 42¢ on the dollar and the 5 yr bond is at 24.5¢ on the dollar.
I've gone to Bonds on Line and don't find any WorldCom bonds maturing in 2011 or sooner trading at less than 47c on the dollar. Of course that is the asking price so the bid may very well be 42c.
It is most unusual to have a bond maturing in 5 years offered at less than 60% of the ten year bond. Are you sure about your numbers? Just skimming through the financials, I would like to buy some World Com bonds maturing in 5 years for anything around 30c on the dollar.
