Has anyone else had major problems with Fleet?
I did a BT with them a year or so ago (they offered me a low rate). After a couple months, many of my payments started getting there "late", and incurring a fee.
At first, I thought this was odd (I am usually good about that), but chalked it up to carelessness (I did call and ask them to remove it -- which they did).
Two months later, another late fee. The following month, another one. (I found this particularly galling, b/c if my payment was "late" for the prior month, shouldn't it have been registered as "on time" for the following month? In other words, they did get a payment during that two-month period, but it was credited to neither billing cycle.)
By this time, I am really fighting with them over the phone. I knew that these checks are being mailed more than two weeks ahead, but they are still being cashed after my payment due date (I had taken to writing the date that they were mailed in the memo section, after the account number).
Only after I accuse them of mis-behavior and threaten to go to BBB and whomever else do they relent, and remove my late fees. I transfered the balance away, and cancelled the account immediately.
I have no idea if they have a history of problems, but this is my experience.
