If I recall correctly, Benjamin Franklin used his printing business to become financially independent and retired at an early age. But he found things to do, like becoming a world famous scientist, founding the United States and being Ambassador to France, playing a key role in the revolution.

Imagine the pickel we'd be in if he HADN'T retired early!
