Even so, if they accidentally charged my old CC instead of my new one, I'd expect them to contact me and ask me what was going on.

Yeah, it is nice if they do that. It's a courtesy that would make me, for one, go back to them again for more service.

But the point is LEGAL obligations. Are they legally obliged to do it? No. It's very good customer service if they do, but the fact remains that it is your legal obligation to give them your updated card info at the time of purchase of goods or services. And if you give them old card info and they find out after shipping, they could indeed report you for nonpayment if they don't receive updated card info after 30 days. There are some A** companies out there you know :)
