Hiring a lawyer to fight an $83 bill never was my suggestion anyway. My suggestion was to pay for some legal advice on your exposure to your wife's medical bills. All you'd need is an hour of a lawyer's time to find out where you stand not just now but for any time in the future that your wife has medical bills. Is your insurance policy completely comprehensive? Will it cover EVERYTHING? Suppose she's in an accident and loses her hearing, will it cover hearing aids? One hour of a lawyer's time is only about $75. Considering you won't divorce your wife, $75 is not that much to spend to find out what your risks are and what if anything your state might offer in the way of protection. |
